On January 11, 2023, at ~7:18 PM ET, Microsoft tweeted from their account @MSFT365status that they were investigating an issue in which some users were reporting an inability to access OneDrive.
Previously this month, Microsoft reported a similar access issue for Microsoft OneDrive on January 2, 2023.
Microsoft provided no incident number and made no mention of checking in with the admin center, but instead directed any impacted users to access the service health portal for additional information. It should be noted that it was only a month ago, on December 2, 2022, that Microsoft experienced a similar OneDrive service incident.
Several minutes later, Microsoft sent a second message (@MSFT365status) indicating that they were looking at recent "changes" as part of their effort to determine the underlying cause as to the OneDrive access issue many were experiencing.
Community responses on Twitter confirmed that many users were unable to access from OneDrive their much-needed personal, school, and work files.
About 2 hours after their initial message, Microsoft confirmed that a "recent change" was indeed contributing to the "issue", and that a reversion was underway.
Microsoft followed up with another message that service availability for some was being restored.
And approximately 4 hours after their first reporting the issue, Microsoft was confirming that the issue was fully resolved.
