On October 30th at roughly ~1:30 am UTC, Microsoft reported that some users may be unable to access the Microsoft Word app.
Many users took to Twitter to express their frustration as this outage prevented many from completing important and time sensitive projects.
Throughout the early morning, Microsoft continued to provide updates on the outage. Shortly after their initial post, they confirmed that the outage was affecting all Microsoft office web applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
They determined that a recent change may have contributed to the cause of impact and they were reverting the change and monitoring the service health status.
As of ~4:30 am UTC, Microsoft reported that their monitoring had shown slight recovery to some users following the revert, but they were looking into additional mitigation options.
At 6:00 am UTC, Microsoft reported that their recovery efforts have experienced unexpected delays but they were working diligently to mitigate the problem.
Finally, at ~9:30 am UTC, Microsoft reported that impact associated with OO225507 had been mitigated.
