On Tuesday, May 9th, 2023, Microsoft tweeted @MSFT365status that they were investigating a service incident in which some users in the United Kingdom region were experiencing access issues for various Microsoft 365 services.
For system admins and IT professionals with access to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, the service incident number to reference was MO552487.
While this appeared to be a minor and short-lived event, there were a few community Twitter responses to Microsoft suggesting that the impacted geo region may have extended beyond the UK and that the resolution time may not have been as quick as Microsoft indicated it was.
Approximately 90 minutes after their initial tweet, Microsoft sent a second and final communication via @MSFT365status that they had identified the cause as a "routing issue" and that the issue was completely resolved as of 6:37 AM (ET).
It is noteworthy to mention that for the entire time that service incident MO552487 was an active event, Microsoft was also communicating via their Office Service Status portal as to "issues" with both Outlook.com and Teams:
For now, as to service incident MO552487, the UK region Microsoft 365 access issues seem resolved.
Microsoft's last reported service incident was on April 24th, 2023, and that incident involved search function issues with several Microsoft 365 services.
