This year, Microsoft will host its largest annual tech event, Microsoft Ignite, in the windy city—Chicago, November 18-22nd! We love Microsoft Ignite because it's where Microsoft typically unveils big announcements regarding updates to technology and services that keep our industry propelling forward. If there’s one thing that this community ecosystem agrees on, it’s that Microsoft is rapidly innovating and changing, and Microsoft Ignite is an opportunity to help us all keep up and hear the latest and (sometimes not the greatest) updates so we’re on the same page and can pivot where needed.
As hopefully many of you already know Exchange Server 2016 entered the Extended Support phase of its product lifecycle on October 14th 2020. During Extended Support, products only receive updates defined by the Fixed Life Cycle. For Exchange Server 2016, the Fixed Life Cycle will include any required product and security updates and time zone definition changes. With the transition of Exchange Server 2016 to Extended Support, the quarterly release schedule of cumulative updates (CU) will end.

Microsoft’s virtual Ignite conference was held this week and did a pretty good job of maintaining the hype and excitement of a real in-person event. Gone were the opportunities to talk with colleagues in-between sessions or in the hallways, but I think Microsoft made the most of this two-day virtual event and made it easy for attendees to view the pre-recorded content they wanted to see on their own schedules. This content is still available in the Ignite 2020 Virtual Hub.

It truly was a HUGE year for IT Pros due to the many improvements and new capabilities various Microsoft Teams (meaning groups of people, not just the Teams team 😜) brought us.
After months of planning, Microsoft completed another successful Ignite event in Orlando, Florida. Being that it was held the first week of November, the weather was cooler, but the news and excitement was as hot as ever.
